Who am I?

I’m Scott Jones, a digital marketer with a deeper focus on web design and SEO. I discovered the wonderful world of digital marketing 11 years ago when working on my first business project ‘Simple People’ (see below), and throughout the following years, I’ve become very passionate about all things business, marketing, and digital. I have since used my skills and passion to build several small business projects, help thousands of businesses with tailored solutions, learn public speaking & presentation, develop a technical mindset, and fall in love with coding and programming.

Fun Fact

The Clifton Strengths Finder shows that my top 5 strengths are: Analytical, Deliberative, Contextual, Futuristic, and Learner. I believe these strengths are the reason I am driven to constantly learn, solve problems, and why I can look to the future to understand probabilities, analyse outcomes, and evaluate risks.

2019 - 2021

Elite Snagging

I worked with Elite Snagging to create their website, social media content & planning, social media community outreach, search engine marketing, and organic search strategy.  Due to their lack of business and marketing knowledge, I ended up taking over business and marketing operations for the entire business, managing a budget of £50,000. This provided the Elite Snagging team additional time and peace of mind to work on delivering their home snagging services.

2019 - 2021

2019 - 2019 (6 months)

WhiteHat

I worked for WhiteHat (now Multiverse) during their rapid growth spurt in 2019. I worked within the digital marketing trainer team which had me taking the lead in the planning and creation of the digital marketing content that would be delivered to apprentices. I also taught classes to digital marketing apprentices in group settings, as well as one-to-one coaching. Additionally, I guided their in-house marketing team on SEO best practices and on-going strategy.

2017 - Present

By 2017 I gained a mass of skills and experience in various digital marketing areas such as web design, SEO, social media marketing, search, display and social advertising, and data. I had just been recruited by Google to work on the Digital Garage project (see below) and decided it was time to create a personal brand where I sell my services and create a platform for my blog content.

Google Digital Garage

I was recruited to work on the Google Digital Garage project, where I would teach/present to classes of up to 70 small business owners. I would also work with small businesses on a one-to-one level to teach or assist them with their technical issues. I often got to nuture businesses throughout their start-up process.

2015 - 2016

The Body Station

The Body Station sold healthy fast food, which was aimed at the health and fitness industry for fast and prep dishes, snacks, and supplements. I utilised ordering systems from Just Eat, Hungry House, and Deliveroo. It was also my first attempt at a physical location, which was on the busy Oxford Road in Manchester.

Manchester Metropolitan University

I studied marketing management at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). I joined this course with the intention of adding to my business and marketing skillset.

Protech Labs

Protech Labs was a middle-man business, in which I marketing graphic designer services, acquired customers, and used my network of freelance designers to complete projects.  The Pinterest account associated with this business was at one point getting on average half a million organic impressions and fifty thousand engagements each month.

The Manchester College

I studied Business Management. Core topics included: Economics, Accounting, Marketing Principles, and Business Management

Simple People

This eCommerce project was my first taste at going at it alone. I researched heavily on a daily basis and imported hundreds of products. Which I then sold on Amazon, eBay, and my first website.
